A Statement from Archbishop Aymond
February 24, 2022
By now, we should all be aware that Russian troops have invaded Ukraine. Russian forces have caused unprovoked death and destruction for the people of Ukraine.
As we see the images of Ukrainian people fleeing their homes to safety and read the headlines about the damage and casualties, let us not be complacent but emboldened in prayer to call upon the protection and intercession of our Blessed Mother to bring an end to this unjust war and peace amongst the nations.
Please join me and Catholics around the globe in offering our Ash Wednesday fast for peace in the Ukraine, but do not let it stop there. Let us continue prayer and fasting for peace in our world, our nation, our community, and our homes, for we know these are powerful tools in bringing us closer to God and obtaining peace.
Let us continue to lift the people of the Ukraine in prayer. Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us!
