Well that's what they are saying up in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Masses are not cancelled mind you but the Archbishop has dispensed the obligation to attend Mass if the heat would have an adverse medical impact on the faithful. Seems like the area has been hit with heat indexes of 105-110. Now that's hot and we understand this. Here in these parts we probably have a weekend heat index of 105-110 at least 90% of the time from late May until late September. Heck, last year, that would have included a week or two into October.
But it's the Bishop's call and Archbishop Lori is a good one(chaplain of the Knights of Columbus). Here is the story from the perspective of the folks up in Baltimore:
