Several congregations in the Diocese of Lafayette will welcome new Pastors this summer! Bishop Douglas Deshotel has announced the following new assignments effective July 1, 2019:
Reverend Patrick Broussard appointed Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish in Church Point and its mission, St. John in Lewisburg, in addition to his position as Director of Vocations.
Reverend F. Hampton Davis appointed Pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Eunice and Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Duralde for a period of six (6) years.
Reverend Monsignor J. Robert Romero appointed Pastor of Nativity of Our Lady Parish in New Iberia for a period of six (6) years.
Reverend Michael Russo appointed Pastor of Saint Anne Parish in Youngsville for a period of six (6) years, in addition to his assignment as Chancellor of Saint Thomas More High School in Lafayette.
Reverend Cedric Sonnier appointed Pastor of Saint Mary Mother of the Church Parish in Lafayette for a period of six (6) years.
Reverend Mark Kramer, SJ, appointed Parochial Vicar of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish in Grand Coteau with residence at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau.
Reverend Emmanuel Awe, SSJ, appointed Pastor of Our Mother of Mercy Parish in Rayne, in addition to his current pastoral assignment at Our Mother of Mercy Parish in Church Point. Father Awe will take up residence at Our Mother of Mercy Parish in Rayne.
Reverend Herbert Bennerfield has been appointed to the Office of Parochial Administrator of Saint Bernadette Parish in Bayou Vista, in addition to his current pastoral assignment effective, May 13, 2019.
Reverend Richard Wagner, SSJ, will retire.
These assignments are in addition to the new assignments made last week which included:
Reverend Monsignor Jeff DeBlanc appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Lafayette for a period of six (6) years.
Reverend Edward Duhon appointed Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Lafayette for a period of six (6) years.
Reverend Joel Faulk appointed Pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Franklin for a period of six (6) years.
Fr. Faulk is also appointed to the position of Chancellor of Hanson High School and Saint John Elementary School, both in Franklin. This appointment is effective July 1, 2019 and is made for a period of three (3) years.
Reverend Mario Romero appointed Pastor of Holy Cross Parish in Lafayette for a period of six (6) years.
