Friday of Mercy: Pope Visits Poor People and Sick Children
The ‘CasAmica’ and the ‘Bridge and the tree’
On the eve of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, December 7, 2018, Pope Francis fulfilled his personal mission of mercy by going to two facilities in the southern suburbs of Rome “to show closeness to some poor and sick people,” the Holy See reported.
He visited the non-profit organization CasAmica onlus, a facility in Trigoria that receives patients to be treated with continuous hospital care, accompanied by their relatives with whom the Holy Father spent the afternoon and with children with mental illnesses. They live in the therapeutic rehabilitation community The bridge and the tree located in one of the “bridges” of the Laurentino district 38.
The visits were part of the Friday of Mercy , inaugurated with the Jubilee of 2016. Monseñor Rino Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, accompanied the Pope.
