Wendy and I were reminiscing that we've been through this before. When her mom died this past Monday morning we could not but recall the circumstances of her dad's passing. Some 22 years ago just a few days shy of Thanksgiving 1996 he passed away in a hospital from complications from heart surgery. So here we are again, both of them having died on the Monday of Thanksgiving week.
Thanksgiving day and the day or two after will be different for sure. Wendy and I will be back and forth on the road today, I've agreed to take her to a movie, then there will be a visit with Brennan and her parents and yes, we will watch the Saints game together. Tomorrow, Wendy and her sister will go back to their mom's apartment one more time and complete the task of boxing up and hauling off. Fortunately we have already moved out all the furniture.
So yes, a little bittersweet but that's how it is. Thanksgiving will allow us to count among our many blessings the life well lived of Lynn Holden. Wendy and her sister are indeed sad that she is gone but realize she is no longer struggling with pain and so much struggle. And this Thanksgiving they can recall all the good memories of both her life and the life of their dad.
For those of you reading this locally we have set the arrangements for this Tuesday, November 27th. The visitation will be at 11 am, followed by Mass at noon. All will take place at St. Jane de Chantal in Abita Springs. Burial will be in Ponchatoula around 3 pm.
This Thanksgiving we also give thanks for all your prayers throughout this long 5 month illness and we appreciate that you continue to pray for Lynn for we all believe in prayers for the deceased.
And we want to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope you are celebrating in ways that bring you great joy
