Wednesday we remember the death of St John the Baptist

posting this early so we can recognize and remember the heroic witness to Christ by John the Baptist.    Imprisoned by Herod because he dare speak out of the Kings infidelity with Herodias she would concoct the plan for his death, involving her own daughter.  Carried away by the young girls dance he awarded her one wish, anything she wanted.  Her mother told her to ask for the head of the Baptist.  Herod had no choice but to oblige!  John the Baptist was killed for fidelity to truth and boldness in naming sin.

He fully accepted God’s will for his life.  He lived the words recorded in John 3:30:

He must increase, I must decrease.
