Wendy and I have just arrived back at our hotel room as the 2018 National Diaconate Congress is over. Being gracious locals, I paid for a late afternoon check out time so all the Deacons & wives that need to get on the road, catch a plane, or make a deadline can get downstairs and out of here before we descend. We hope to leave here for 3 pm and head north and settle back into Abita Springs this evening.
As far as a report on this day and the eventual overall post about the significance of this Congress to me and to Wendy, well, that will have to wait until later in the day. I just looked at the calendar and I do have a meeting tonight and a busy homily weekend ahead. Life will return to normal soon, however, I hope my life, particularly as a Deacon & a Husband, will be profoundly impacted, perhaps even changed, by the affirming and inspirational moments of this week.
So the abitadeacon and his lovely bride will face the daunting tasks of getting from here to home and preparing for the days and weeks and lifetime ahead....posting resumes later today or even tonight!
