On balance it seemed like a great weekend underway; Benediction was beautiful last night(although I pray fervently for more adorers for our Benediction hour), Delilah and I had a restful night at home while Wendy assisted our daughter and granddaughter. Saturday came a storm, thankfully mostly before dawn and not nearly as bad as predicted, and in a light rain, I drove off to assist at our First Holy Communion Mass. Again, it was beautiful ad this time we had a full church. We did have 31 kids receiving, a strong number since we do not have a parish school.
So all was going wonderfully, until Wendy arrived home with the always wonderful news that she wrecked the car. Now thankfully she is ok, the car, while drive-able, looks like hell. Just put it on the long list of things I need to take care of; thank God I am made of an inexhaustible supply of money(for those who don't know me well, that would be sarcasm). The old when it rains it pours saying is incredibly true.
While I am at it, I do want to address again the recent and out of the blue downturn in daily blog visitors. Not just a downturn, I'm talking 300 to 500 visitors per day. I can't tell what really is going on except the biggest downturn is overnight. Recent activity showed about 400 visitors from midnight to dawn, these last few weeks now about 125 overnight. All I can say is I can't explain this. Even the afternoon, where several hours in prime work day would see 100 visitors per hour, that kind of number is very few and very far between. So, I just don't know. This is what I do know, whether 1,000 people visit the abitadeacon a day or only 400 or 500 hundred, I'm still plugging away. I am now just 10 months short of celebrating my 10th anniversary of a very active blog. I actually started this blog less than 2 months after ordination so if you do math well, that means I am about 8 months shy of my 10th anniversary as a Permanent Deacon.
This blog is something I count among the many ministries entrusted to me by God; it's intent is to spread news of God's holy Catholic Church, promote the Permanent Diaconate and release my homilies and other reflections. Along with normative duties at my assigned parish, my prison ministry, my Bible Study, weddings and baptisms, and so much more, this blog is a ministry too.
Thanks to all who visit here, we will just see what God has in store for her. Meanwhile, pray for Wendy that she quit running in to people on the roads.
