As a Catholic think about this, today is the last day of Easter day because the Church tells us that Easter Sunday lasts 8 days. So the 2nd Sunday of Easter is actually Easter Sunday! And as Catholics, we all know what is coming, we will hear today the Gospel known as the Gospel of doubting Thomas. And since the year 2000, thanks to the great Saint John Paul II, the Pope of our lifetime, we also have the great feast of Divine Mercy. Devotion to Divine Mercy is only growing and spreading as our good Lord desired. The opportunity to go to confession, pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, to venerate the image of Divine Mercy, all of this is strongly encouraged today!
As a dad/pops this Sunday brings the very 1st visit to our home by Brennan Leigh. She is coming to spend the afternoon with us and to meet her great-grandmother for the 1st time. Little girl has a very active social calendar.
After Brennan's visit, I am off to offer Benediction at 5:45, the close of our Holy Hour, and then assist at the last Mass of the day for this Divine Mercy Sunday on this 8th day of Easter!
