It's First Friday in Abita; we do it right

It's another First Friday in Abita Springs so we do it right at St, Jane de Chantal Church!  The morning begins with Mass that concludes with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament as the congregation sings O Salutaris Hostia.  Then Adoration commences for the next 10 hours or so.  Several adorers are present with the Blessed Sacrament throughout the day.

At approximately 6:30 the Rosary is prayed by all present in the Church, meanwhile confessions are offered from 6 pm until Benediction begins.  At 7 sharp, we begin Benediction as we pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart.  When I preside, I always offer a reflection that keeps the spotlight on Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and perhaps, like tonight, gives a glimpse into the Devotion to the Sacred Heart.

After singing Tantum Ergo, the Benediction is offered, Divine Praises prayed and the Blessed Sacrament is reposed in the Tabernacle.

Tonight I borrowed very heavily from a nice article by CNA on First Friday Devotion.

I offer it here for your prayerful refection:  http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/resources/prayers/devotions/to-our-lord-jesus-christ/first-friday-devotion/
