The safety of our young people and chaperones is of utmost importance. Today we made the decision for the 500 pilgrims at March for Life to leave Washington, DC this afternoon. They are leaving by charter bus now (3:30 pm). They will travel to Charlotte where we have hotel rooms reserved for them to spend the night. We will monitor the weather and conditions in Charlotte, and they will get back on the road to continue home once it is safe.
We have been in touch with a meteorologist who has shared his guidance and we will continue to monitor the weather. The archbishop and other members of the archdiocesan staff will continue to be in regular communication.
Once again the safety of our pilgrims is a priority and we ask God's blessings on their journey home. We asks too his blessing on all those remaining pilgrims participating in the March for Life.
