So here I sit on Friday evening in comfortable home sweet home!
6 states, 13 total hours on the road, including 11.5 doing nothing but driving. Leaving at 6:06 a.m. in the eastern time zone, we knocked out North Carolina, stopped at Abbot Farm's In South Carolina to buy some peach stuff, by the way peach salsa is to die for, then to Georgia and the dreaded navigation of Atlanta. Fortunately we knocked this part out before the lunch hour. From Georgia we entered Alabama and stopped for lunch in Aniston Alabama. On to Mississippi and a late stop to pick up some take out for dinner and then we were in Louisiana.
After all that time, add another 1 hour to empty out the car, make piles of dirty clothes and getting the washer and dryer going.
The key to these trips for Wendy and me is just to have some in person face time with Calvin, who we have been visiting 4 times a year since his birth in 2012 and then Katelyn who just turned 5 months old! We adore these grandkids and the role of being a grandparent. We are so proud of the family my son Jimmy and daughter-in-law Sara have made and are raising in such a fine area as North Carolina. Of course for us the only problem is that 13 hour, 6 state scenario described above.
Our next rendezvous for us and the grandchildren is an April visit here when our #1 daughter Elizabeth gets married! Until then, great memories and lots of Skype!
Need I say more!
