Just a quick note this morning to mark the 7th anniversary of my Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate.
Hard for me, and I'm sure my formation classmates, that it was 7 years ago this very morning we all stood on the marble floor of venerable St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans and received the Sacrament of Holy Orders from Archbishop Alfred Hughes.
The laying on of hands, the promise of fidelity to my Bishop, the receiving of the Book of the Gospels, I clearly remember everything from my ordination.
I remember the nice party my wife held for me surrounded by family and friends, my first Mass as Deacon at St. Jane de Chantal Church in Abita Springs; wonderful memories!
I have been very happy to serve as Deacon at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, St. Michael's Mission, Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Rayburn Correctional Center. Thankful to also have served as mentor for various formation classes since 2008 and to assist with homiletic classes.
This morning I recall every Baptism, Wedding and even every Funeral. I remember with fondness every person and family that I have been privileged to minister with; to serve!
Most especially, I am thankful to Almighty God for he has chosen this most unworthy servant to serve His people as Deacon.
