Blue Bell ice cream returns to store shelves in New Orleans

Blue Bell ice cream is back on store shelves in Louisiana.
The ice cream company announced in November that its products would return to Louisiana on Monday. The announcement came months after listeria contamination halted sales and prompted cleanup of Blue Bell production plants earlier this year.
Blue Bell resumed production this month in its hometown of Brenham, Texas, 70 miles northwest of Houston. Sales from the plant have not yet resumed amid continued regulatory scrutiny.
The company said 115 workers who were put on paid furlough will return to work. The company will have about 1,000 employees, including at plants in Alabama and Oklahoma, now supplying consumers in those states, plus Texas.
