It was my privilege tonight to witness and receive the consent and vows of two young people I have prepared for the past six months. In the exquisitely beautiful St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in the Irish Channel of New Orleans, Brandon & Jamie became one in the Sacrament of Matrimony. This couple, he a Baptist, she a Catholic, both agreeing to this Catholic wedding and the raising of children in the Church, demonstrated great growth, incredible love and discernment of God's role in their lives as husband & wife.
Selecting their readings from the many available to them, I was able to preach on the role o love, prayer and the inclusiveness of God in married life. Stop often and pray. Be kind and generous and thankful always. Be salt and light to each other and love with agape love; completely emptying self for the good of the other.
After the words of Scripture are heard, consent is exchanged, followed by vows and finally rings! Brandon and Jamie are married; husband and wife!
I think this is my 12th wedding as a Permanent Deacon, and I trust there will be more.
Congratulations Brandon & Jamie!!
