A quick update from your recovering deacon

I knew that Sunday mornings would be the hardest part of this on-going recovery from knee replacement surgery.  Unable to attend Mass I settled in today for Mass from our Cathedral and will probably view a few more thanks to YouTube and other apps.  Indeed my surgery happened on June 29th and, from all indications, went well.  Total knee replacement comes with a period of time for physical rehabilitation and that does come with some level of pain.  The pain, we are told, is what we need to experience to get to the desired outcome and that also requires both commitment and patience.  I will probably struggle more with the latter.  For now, I'm glad the surgery is behind me and that the road to recovery is underway.  I do look forward to the fruits of this recovery and, as a deacon, being able to move around in the sanctuary without concern about losing my balance or even falling.

I have been so wonderfully supported since my surgery by so many of your prayers.  Prayers are always very important and I do count on and feel each one.  Thank-you for your prayers.  Remember, I offered to pray for your intentions too especially during this time when I can offer my struggles along with my prayers.  Please feel free to reach out.

For now, I have no idea when my 1st day back in the office or assisting at Mass will be.  This is where I need to grow in patience.  I hope to come back stronger and ready to tackle everything needed to accomplish together for the glory of God among the people of God, you and I, which makes up our parish family.

I plan to issue additional updates over the next few weeks and continue to thank all of you for the prayers and meals and many other acts of kindness.  As you pray for me, and don't forget to pray for my wife Wendy as well, know that I will be praying for you and our wonderful parish family.
