On Saturday morning, Pope Francis met with nearly 1,000 recently-confirmed, or soon-to-be-confirmed, young people hailing from the Italian Archdiocese of Genoa.

The young people of the nation's northern port city enthusiastically greeted the Pope with banners and fanfare, in the square in front of his residence, Casa Santa Marta, where he warmly welcomed them.

The Holy Father addressed the young Catholics candidly, and encouraged them to pray to the Blessed Mother.

He also warned them against speaking badly against others, and against gossip.

Pope Francis encouraged them to enjoy their time in Rome, but warned them against fighting, reminding them that fighting comes from the devil.

The Holy Father concluded his exchange with the young people by urging them to pray to the Blessed Mother and join him in praying a Hail Mary.
