It's been a rough few days, even weeks, professionally and financially. Tough decisions at work, deadlines to be met, goals to reach and one repair needed after another; first the cars then the home water pump. Yes, life still happens to the Deacon; like you, I am not immune to life's challenges and up's and down's.
Tonight my appointed rounds at Rayburn Prison was on the agenda. For me it could not have come at a better time. I was presiding tonight, as no Priest was available, so I led a Communion Service and preached on today's Gospel from St. Luke. We had fellowship, prayer, worship, praise, singing, preaching, the Word of God and the precious Body of the Lord in Holy Communion.
Just 2 hours spent in prison, doing my ministry, fulfilling my obligation(which is my pleasure) and again, they minister to me!
Uplifting, spiritual, a nice change of pace to all the stuff the world throws at you.
For the men at Rayburn Prison, for this ministry entrusted to me, I say: Thanks Be to God!!
