A DEACON’S PRAYER TO ST. STEPHEN

Brave St. Stephen,
You proclaimed your faith in Christ Jesus
to an angry and disbelieving world, yet you did not fear.
You gave your life for the truth you preached.
Guide my preaching and my witness.
Help me to have your courage,
your fidelity, your passion, and your zeal,
so that I may stand up
when I would rather back down,
and forgive those I would rather condemn.
Lead me to always seek Christ in all I do
and in all whom I meet,
so that, with you as my example,
I may one day see Christ face-to-face
and serve him for all eternity.
Amen.
