Confirmation night in the old home parish

Just returned home from the Confirmation Liturgy at St. Jane de Chantal in Abita Springs.  This is my home parish and I was very pleased that the Pastor and staff included me in their plans.  The evening began with dinner with Archbishop Aymond at the parish center with clergy and catechists.  It is always a pleasant time to visit with our Archbishop.

Confirmation tonight saw 22 young people receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation, including several from neighboring parish of St. John the Baptist.  Archbishop Aymond delivered the "just right" homily for the soon to be confirmed, reminding them that tonight is their Pentecost.  The Archbishop also reminded them of their responsibility to continue strong in the faith and to even consider the possibility of a vocation.

I love the Confirmation liturgy; the red vestments, the smell of chrism, all the clergy celebrating or assisting at the Mass.  It is a beautiful affirmation that the promises of our Baptism or now sealed by this decent of the Holy Spirit through the hands of a descendant of the Apostles, the Bishop.

Thanks St. Jane family for remembering me on this very special night in the life of the Church!
