Friday update on the Pope; Angelus will be from the hospital

Friday update on Pope Francis: Another quiet day; Angelus from hospital

The Holy Father celebrated Mass with the nursing staff.

Pope Francis has had another “quiet day” with “no more fever,” announced Matteo Bruni, director of the Vatican press office on July 9. The Pope will recite the traditional midday Sunday prayer of the Angelus on July 11 from the 10th floor of the Gemelli polyclinic.

This will be the Pontiff’s first public appearance since the Angelus of July 4; soon after leading that prayer, he went to the hospital for his pre-scheduled colon surgery.

It is not known how or if the Marian prayer will be transmitted from the Roman hospital as that will depend on the will and the state of health of the head of the Catholic Church, I.media learned from a Vatican source.

Pope Francis “continues to eat normally” and continues with his scheduled treatments. The Holy See reports that he continues walking “in the corridor” of the hospital and has even started working again, as well as having some reading time.

The Pontiff also celebrated Mass in the chapel of his private apartment in the presence of the nursing staff. He once again thanked all those who sent him messages of affection and closeness, and, as usual, requested that we pray for him.
