Palm Sunday in Prison

We celebrated Palm Sunday in Prison tonight, looking forward to the celebration of this coming Sunday.  The men had arranged for palms to be on the altar which I blessed and we had the full reading of the Gospel utilizing the four parts, Christ, Narrator, Voice, Crowd.  We even read the opening Gospel so we could hear proclaimed the story of the triumphal palm waving entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem.

I was able to preach tonight on both Gospels and explain the use of our voices and our very selves to both praise and worship Jesus; Hosanna! and then yell Crucify Him!

I also preached on that beautiful kenotic hymn that was the 2nd reading from Philippians.

We then had a beautiful, respectful Communion Service and a ending blessing to send them back to their bunks to pray with the words of tonight's readings and prepare for Holy Week.  Next week we will pray forward the Triduum and walk through Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter.

And hopefully I will soon be able to deliver some Easter words of encouragement cards for the men as prepared by our youth group.  What a blessing this will be to the men and what a wonderful work of service by our young Catholics.

God bless the men of our Catholic Community as they may be filled with Easter joy!
