July is upon us, one of my two least favorite months of the year. June was such a blur because of all the drama with Wendy's mom. Today is day 29. June also was exceptionally hot, very hot and has already created tons of heat exhausted people and crazy high electrical bills. July promises to be hotter before we endure the worst of the heat in August and most of September. And the grass, well, what can I say?
For Wendy and I July will very much be controlled by what's next for her mom. Still in ICU she is certainly improving every day but we surely have no idea what the future hold, short or long term. I do know this, as long as Wendy's mom continues to be in need, Wendy will be there, noble indeed, but not always wise. When you give out in the pursuit of helping others, well, you can't be much help.
I had so looked forward to this July because of the extraordinary event of the 50th anniversary convention of Permanent Deacons, hosted here in New Orleans. Wendy and I are all registered and paid up but somehow I doubt my wife will be able to fully participate. Again, time will tell.
I have a very difficult month ahead of me at work; still short a staff member, I have someone in training or vacation almost every day of the month.
In retrospect, maybe not the best day to try and write this. For now I'll just beg your prayers, and we will see what's next. In the meantime, can I hope for July to move along at least a little bit cooler and of course, no hurricanes or tropical storms.
I'll take a crack at this again.
