A sad story from the deacon community in Wisconsin

I saw this story over at Deacons Bench today and it struck me as sad of course because of the death of one so willing to serve the Church so completely as a Permanent Deacon.  But it also reminded me of a recent brief talk I gave to Deacon candidates here at home that there is nothing "magical" about the Permanent Diaconate.  What I mean by that is life will continue to happen to the Permanent Deacon and his family.  Life come with incredible joys and sometimes profound sadness.  Good news may be balanced with some bad news.  Things will work well, as planned and then they won't.  Life happens.  And death, sad as it may be, even suddenly as is the case with this story, is part of life.

The story of a very soon to be ordained deacon who suddenly and unexpectedly lost his life:

May he rest in peace, may his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, by the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen.
