HURRICANE MATTHEW
Hurricane Matthew, a powerful category 4 storm, made landfall on Haiti early Tuesday, October 4, 2016.
With maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour, it is predicted that Hurricane Matthew will remain powerful into Wednesday and beyond, as it passes Haiti and heads to the far eastern coasts of Cuba and Jamaica.
Along with partners, Catholic Relief Services is ready to move personnel, and transport and deliver relief items.
Outside of immediate food, the greatest needs will be shelter, water and hygiene supplies. CRS will distribute blankets, kitchen and hygiene kits and other emergency supplies as needed, as well as monitor potential outbreaks of cholera and other diseases.
