Pope Francis sends message to the people of Nice France

Pope Francis Sends Telegram for Tragedy in Nice
‘Condemning such acts again, His Holiness Pope Francis expresses his deep sorrow and his spiritual closeness to the French people.’
Pope writing a letter
Pope Francis has sent his condolences to the loved ones of the victims of the tragedy that took place last night in the French city of Nice, claiming 84 lives and wounding at least 15 others. During a Bastille Day fireworks celebration, a terrorist of Franco-Tunisian descent drove a truck into the crowds that had been watching. After traveling two kilometers, eventually the driver was killed in a shootout with the police. Below is a translation of the French telegram:

His Excellency André Marceau,
Bishop of Nice
While France was celebrating its national day, blind violence struck again the country in Nice, causing many casualties, including children. Condemning such acts again, His Holiness Pope Francis expresses his deep sorrow and his spiritual closeness to the French people. He entrusts to God’s mercy those who lost their lives, and joins with the pain of the bereaved families. He has expressed his sympathy to those wounded and to all those who came tot their aid, asking the Lord to support each in need. Imploring God for the gift of peace and harmony, Pope Francis sends to the grieving families and all the French people the benefit of divine blessings.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin
Secretary of State
