Bishop Cheri preaches at the Red Mass

Bishop Cheri: Stick with Jesus

Auxiliary Bishop Fernand Cheri was the homilist at the annual Red Mass Oct. 5 at St. Louis Cathedral marking the beginning of the judicial year. Reflecting on the Gospel story of the rich young man unwilling to sell his possessions and follow Jesus, Bishop Cheri said: "The young man had so much but was not satisfied.  He longed for joy and peace that the world could not give. "Bishop Cheri told the judges, attorneys and elected officials that "the world can eaisly steal our affections away and cause us to live for the wrong things.  I don't know about you, but these Scriptures challenge me to think about this journey of life I'm on.  I'm seeking eternal life and life with Christ."
