What I did with my Wednesday night

As the 9 PM hour draws near I am exhausted by another busy day and a full evening.  However that full evening is a source of great joy.  After work, I attended a clergy meeting for my parish, St. Jane de Chantal.  Yes, Permanent Deacons are clergy too!  Our Pastor and Parochial Vicar along with the 4 Permanent Deacons assigned to St. Jane were in attendance to pray, collaborate and plan.  It is so evident to me, and mindful of my past times spent at St. Jane, that this is a very active parish, responding in faith to the needs of the people of God.

We went thru an active busy calendar from now thru next Easter and believe me, there is so much to do to make the Kingdom of God here on earth alive and present for parishioners and others!  During our clergy meeting the RCIA team appeared to with the 4 folks who are coming forward to join the church soon.  Glory, we have new candidates and catechumens in our growing parish!

After we were thru in the big meeting hall, we walked next door to support the group meeting for the Family Promise program.  This is a wonderful program of real tangible help for families that for what ever reason find themselves homeless.  The parish offers a place to spend the night for a week, meals, support and things like tutoring and play time for the young ones!

So it was a great Wednesday night.  Normally, Wednesday night is my prison night but when I have a Wednesday night off from prison I just go home and relax.  I'm so glad this Wednesday night was so well spent!
