Archbishop offers prayers for Charleston church shooting victims

Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond issued the following statement on the shootings at a Charleston church We extend our prayers and compassion to the families of the victims of the shootings in Charleston and for those who were killed in the house of the Lord that they will have the fullness of eternal life. This incident is a reminder that we live in a violent world where people express themselves and solve issues not with dialogue but with a gun. It is also a reminder that as a society we do not give enough attention or resources to those who are mentally ill. It is a sad day in our country to witness such violence and murder especially in a church. This should give us another reason to pray our family prayer asking God to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism, not just in our own city and metro area but around the country and the world.
