A First Friday in Lent like no other

I don't want this post to seem like it is intended to brag on my parish but it's worth a little publicity.  Perhaps other parishes may be motivated to do something similar.  For a few years now my parish, Most Holy Trinity in Covington LA has truly celebrated First Fridays.  Beginning with morning Mass, all day Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament extends throughout the day until approximately 6:45 PM when Benediction begins.  After the Blessed Sacrament is reposed in the tabernacle an evening Mass is celebrated in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a long-standing Catholic devotion since Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque in the 17th century.

With one such first Friday always falling during Lent, these devotions continue along with not one but two opportunities to pray the Stations of the Cross.  If you would have visited us at MHT last evening at approximately 6 PM and left by 8 PM you would have been able to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, prayed the Stations of the Cross, attended Reconciliation, witnessed Benediction and participated in the Mass.

This is a parishioner led effort and supported by the donations of those who attend these evening celebrations on first Fridays.

These First Fridays always offer an opportunity for Reconciliation for approximately an hour while Adoration continues.  Benediction and Mass is possible because of generous Priests who make themselves available to us and are always supported by one of our parish Deacons.

Please come and visit us on one of the First Friday celebrations at Most Holy Trinity.  It's well worth your time to visit with Jesus and His Most Sacred Heart!
