I am inspired by Jim Kelly; Kelly tough!

Can I tell you, the story of former Buffalo QB Jim Kelly inspires me; it really inspires me.  First of all, having watched him throughout his NFL career I never remember him being part of anything scandalous or unsavory.  Can you imagine the sheer number of football fans, even some from Buffalo, who viewed Kim Kelly as a failure because they never won a Super Bowl.  Never mind that Kelly and his teammates somehow arrived at 4 consecutive Super Bowls and dominated play year after year in the AFC.  Yet it is true, Jim Kelly never won a Super Bowl.  And through it all, he remained classy, and in his public persona never appeared to grow bitter or angry.

Jim Kelly retired a champion, even if there was no Super Bowl championship ring.  A peaceful life of returning to family would be interrupted by a devastating and rare disease that afflicted his son Hunter.  After fighting a courageous battle, Jim Kelly's hero, his son Hunter, would lose his battle and pass away.  Through it all the Kelly's were steadfast in giving of themselves to fight the disease and to help others who would also fall victim.

And then the cancer.  First in his jaw and then in his sinuses, Jim Kelly, an American football hero and a dad who stood strong for Hunter and his family was suffering with cancer.  His treatment sapped his strength and Jim Kelly would grow frail while remaining ever positive and ever strong.

He was at the Hall of Fame game last night to support his WR friend Andre Reed and to cheer on the Bills.  And NBC, to their credit, showed this incredible piece at halftime.  Enjoy it and the attached story and be inspired; I know I am!
