Kathy Schiffer, a blogger over at Patheos and wife of a Catholic Deacon posts very good stuff and today, in honor of the 4th of July, posted a previous story about the Catholics honored in Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capital. It seems that 13 states honored Catholics who distinguished themselves in a number of ways, including serving as Catholic clergy and religious. The list includes a Blessed, who we just remembered on July 1st and an American Saint. In addition, the representative from Wisconsin, Pere Marquette, played a huge role in discovering the Northshore of New Orleans where I live and work and minister as a Catholic Permanent Deacon.
