With 118 Catholic parishes and mission churches in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, many visitors and locals find themselves asking for the location of the nearest church or wondering what church has a Mass time that fits their schedules. Now, the Archdiocese of New Orleans has released a "Where Y'at?" Mass Finder app to answer that question for them.
The free app allows users to quickly search for a nearby Catholic church by GPS location within the eight civil parishes of the Archdiocese of New Orleans or by time of day they wish to attend Mass. The app is available on iTunes and in the Android market.
In addition, the app offers access to local and world Catholic news, push notifications of daily readings and special updates from the archdiocese.

"We continue to look for ways to utilize new media and technology in the way we communicate our faith and offer opportunities to live it every day," said Sarah McDonald, director of the office of communications for the archdiocese. "This app makes it easy for both visitors to our city and locals to find a time and place to reconnect spiritually and experience God's presence in His house."

Since August 2013, "Where Y'at" rack cards with the same theme have been circulating in parishes throughout the archdiocese. The cards were a way for parishioners to remind their friends and neighbors that the invitation to Mass was always a standing one. The app offers a similar invitation to users, providing the details and even map directions for those looking to find a church or Mass.
The app's features include:

• Search for a nearby Catholic church by your GPS location
• Search for available Catholic Mass times throughout the Archdiocese of New Orleans by specified time of day
• Daily scripture readings and updates via push notifications
• Catholic news with a Catholic News Service RSS feed
• Episodes of  "Issues and Faith" and videos from the Archdiocese of New Orleans
• Archdiocese of New Orleans calendar of events

The "Where Y'at" Mass Finder app is the second app released by the Archdiocese of New Orleans and developed with local advertising agency Hero Farm. The Faith and Family app, the first app, was launched in November 2012 and has received 739 downloads since its release.
