Sister Marjorie Hebert is named Catholic Charities' leader

Sister Marjorie Hebert was named president and chief executive officer of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans on Wednesday. Sister Marjorie, a Marianite nun, had held the position on an interim basis since January.
In appointing her, Archbishop Gregory Aymond said Sister Marjorie's experience in fields such as health care and education "will continue to be a blessing to Catholic Charities and the entire archdiocese."
A native New Orleanian, Sister Marjorie graduated from Holy Name of Mary School and Our Lady of Holy Cross College, which has given her an honorary doctorate. She earned a master's degree in education from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.
She joined Catholic Charities after serving three years at Our Lady of Holy Cross College as vice president for finances and operations, and associate to the president for ministry.
Sister Marjorie established Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center, which she led from its beginning in 1997 through 2008.
She has been a member and chairwoman of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, a member and chairwoman of the board of Lindy's Place for homeless women, a member of Our Lady of Holy Cross College's Board of Regents, and a Eucharistic minister and volunteer at Ochsner Medical Center -- West Bank Campus.
