NEW ORLEANS —A gift of a good night's sleep found it's way around New Orleans Friday. More than a dozen people transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing received a brand-new bed.
Together the nonprofit group A Good Night Sleep (AGNS), and Unity of Greater New Orleans made the special deliveries possible for families, children, and individuals who are working hard to make a difference for themselves and those they love.
One recipient said her new bed is what she's been dreaming about.
"I'm also feeling lucky just to have a place to lay my head safely and not have the stress about worrying where I'm going to sleep tonight," Latisha McGee said.  "I know it sounds silly, but this means the world to me."
AGNS, based in Los Angeles, was founded by New Orleans native in 2010.  Since then, they have donated more than 1,200 new beds, mostly to people in the New Orleans area.
Over the next few months AGNS and Unity of Greater New Orleans plan to deliver an additional 100 beds to needy people in our area.
