BILOXI, Mississippi -- The Most Rev. Roger Morin has undergone "successful" quadruple bypass surgery and is in recovery, according to Terry Dickson, Director of Communications for the Diocese of Biloxi.
Morin, the third Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi, had experienced chest pains over the weekend, went to an undisclosed hospital and was admitted, Dickson had said in an earlier statement.

Bishop Morin was installed over the 17-county Biloxi diocese in April of 2009.

The Diocese of Biloxi was created in 1977 from the Diocese of Jackson.
The diocese has a Catholic population of about 58,500. There are 72 priests and 37 religious sisters.
Morin is a native of Dracut, Mass. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1971. His first parish assignment was in St. Henry Parish in New Orleans.
