Reacting to the tragedy in Connecticut

As awful as today's events in CT are; as awful as it is that we now mourn the loss of innocent life, as awful as it is that anyone would be so cruel as to carry out such evil; it appears to me that on all social media, it is equally awful particularly ON THIS VERY DAY, to carry on about your personal agendas, your political bias, to claim God willed it because we kicked him ou...
t of school, to link today to large over-arching social issues and to deny that a gun does not empower SOME to be particularly bold in carrying out their evil intent is also cruel. A wise man once told me: measure twice and cut once. Some of you seem almost giddy that this event occured so you can cure all the problems of the world. If your only thought tonight is not profound sympathy for all the victims, and prayers, love and concern from all most intimately impacted; time for a heart transplant. Be sad not mad, pray for peace and quit tearing others to pieces, love others which includes our enemies, quit making enemies of all who don't agree with YOU. Instead tonight pray as St. Francis did:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
