Flying out to visit #1 grandson

In just about 15 hours from now I'm boarding a plane and flying east to North Carolina.  I'm flying by myself.  This is a special trip; a gift to me for an opportunity to be with my grandson, and of course my son and daughter-in-law, even though it will be a brief visit.  I hope to be with my family by late afternoon tomorrow and I have to leave Monday around noon.

This is not the type of trip I would normally make.  There was a day when I would indeed travel all over creation, but those days are few and far between.  In fact, I have only traveled alone twice in the past 5 or 6 years, both times to Houston for business.

But even though this is brief, even though I had to juggle my ministry schedule, it's all worth it as I get to see that #1 grandson.  Calvin Tyler just turned 2 months old on election day.  When last I left him, he was all of 5 days old.  We were excited to be there for his earliest days and my wife sure enjoyed her 2 week visit in October.  For me, this will be some nice quality time before we return for a pre-Christmas visit.

I've had many a friend tell me the arrival of grandchildren, especially #1, is so special.  Indeed that has been the case.  We sure fell in love the minute we met him.  I have so enjoyed not only meeting my grandson but also seeing ny son as a father.  So special.

So I'm off in the morning and I'm not real sure how much blogging I will be doing.  If it's a little light, you know why.

Hang on Calvin, Pops is coming!
