NEW YORK, NY – “Good Morning America” co-host Robin Roberts was resting and already inquiring about leaving the hospital one day after receiving a transplant of bone marrow from her sister Sally-Ann Roberts, according to her oncologist.
Dr. Gail Ropoz told the GMA audience that Robin had emailed the note about being restless.
Sally-Ann Roberts told WWL-TV’s audience that her sister was spending a lot of time sleeping, which is essential following the procedure.
“Thank you for your prayers,” she posted on WWL-TV’s Facebook page. “This is a critical stage in Robin’s recovery.”
Dr. Ropoz said Roberts is being monitored to guard against infection and to see that her white blood cell count is increasing. She said Roberts can expect some good and bad days in her recovery.
She was surrounded by family and friends during the five-minute procedure, including ABC anchor Diane Sawyer and her sister Sally-Ann.
“Those stem cells that are in her are giving birth to a new, healthier Robin, by God’s power,” said Sally-Ann.
