Class act by LSU baseball fans

Photo: LSU fans line the right field wall to high five and wish Stony Brook players good luck in the College World Series following the Seawolves' 7-2 victory against LSU in the Super Regionals.
This weekend the little known college baseball program from Stony Brook University marched into Baton Rouge, Louisiana to face the multiple-times national championship baseball program of LSU.  Even after losing an opportunity to win game 1, the Seawolves came back with a brilliant display of hitting, fielding and an even more brilliant display of big-time pitching.  They won game 2 and then with all on the line, in Alex Box Stadium, with LSU having been here many times before, they really took it to LSU 7-2 and win the berth to the college world series.  Even though they defeated my beloved LSU, Stony Brook has become the Cinderella feel-good sports story of 2012.

Please take a good look at this picture.  Despite the disappointment of your home team losing, LSU fans, realizing Stony Brook maybe had like 50 fans total in Baton Rouge, lined the right field wall and encouraged the Sea Wolves to do a victory lap.  LSU fans cheered for the conquering visitors and high-fived the players one by one.  I think this is a pretty class-act; a true gesture of sportsmanship.  And I trust, by the smiles on the Stony Brook players, a gesture truly appreciated.

My LSU Tigers are done for another year, having posted a pretty impressive 47 win 18 loss season.  As for this Tiger fan, I'll be cheering for Stony Brook in this years CWS.
