I've been spending about a month trying to get back to getting in shape and improve my health. Unfortunately I waited to the point that my weight is too high, my blood pressure too high and diabetes is knocking on the door. But I have began a better eating plan, I know sleep with one of those machines that does help me get more sleep and my cardiac stress test proved to be good news. But then the doctor casually mentions to me you have a severly blocked carotid artery. And thats not a good thing. So the doctor orders an angiogram to confirm the blockage and prepares me for possible surgery for Christmas week.
I've been blesed with many prayers and well wishes as this unfolds. And today was the angiogram. The prayers must have surely worked as todays results indicated much less severe blockage and an opportunity to improve blood flow with medication. There will be no surgery for Christmas; thanks be to God!
Good news is always welcome and I believe especially so at this time of year. I am so thankful to know that once I heal up in a day or so from the angiogram incision I can get about the business of not only my life but the busy-ness of this last Advent week and the celebration of Christmas!
This has given me an opportunity to reflect that many people face many struggles even during Christmas time. In just a few short days, while so many celebrate this joyful holiday someone is dying in hospice, or recovering from chemotherapy or unexpectedely finds their way to an emergency room. We must pray always for folks who endure such challenges as well as all the families who carry a burden, especially this time of year.
God is good all the time and HE is always in control. We must pray for wisdom to understand, peace to accept and a joyful spirit at all times and in all situations!
