Saints perform surgery on the Vikings

The New Orleans Saints performed surgery on the Minnesota Vikings today, winning 42-20 in that horrific MetroDome with the guy blowing that obnoxious whale horn.  The simple fact is the game was not even that close.  After a sputtering first quarter that saw two uncharacteristic fumbles(giving Minnesota 6 points) the Saints went into cruise control mode.  I wish I had the stats in front of me because they must be overwhelming.

Drew Brees is a beast as he threw for 5 TD's to 4 different receivers: Moore, Graham, Sproles and Gilmore.  Another TD came courtesy of a Pierre Thomas rush.  The Saints were always in complete and total control except for those two errant fumbles.  Defensively the Saints looked strong and did a great job in the secondary and keeping Peterson and Harvin under control.

Today's victory gives the Saints win # 11 and I believe clinched the division.  Remaining on the schedule is Atlanta and Carolina.

It's a pretty amazing thing to be a Saints fans these days as the long ago horrific seasons seem a distant memory.  A Super Bowl championship season that brought a total of 16 victories, and the ultimate prize, has now been followed by back to back 11 win seasons.  Hopefully this year will see more wins than 11.

Today's win was especially sweet as Viking big mouth Jared Allen continues to talk his crap about New Orleans.  Every city has there problems but it must be a really small man to revel in whatever ours may be in post-Katrina New Orleans.  And this coming from a football dude whose team, despite being older than the Saints franchise, is still looking for Lombardi Trophy #1.

Geaux Saints; up next: Atlanta FAILCANTS on December 26th.  This should also be the night Drew Brees breaks Dan Marino's passing record.

Thank God that we in Louisiana have the champions to support: New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers(the elite college football program in America) and now our ULL Ragin Cajuns!
