It's the most wonderful time of the year

Well I've ventured into a few sports items lately, have avoided the politics and now it's time to welcome the wonderful weather.  Here in the deep south, where we labor for over 6 months with the 90+ temps and 90+ humidity, October ushers in relief.  And what relief it is.  Tonight the real first autumn front is arriving as I write this and we are bracing for cold weather.  At the moment it is some fall-like.  The temps are falling and currently read 50 degrees with brisk north winds 20-30 mph.  We are expecting a low Thursday morning of 38 degrees; the lowest temperature since March.  C'mon baby; I can't wait.

This is indeed an awesome time of year and much more enjoyable than that oppressive heat.  Soon we also will return to standard time; which really means normal time.  The few leaves that change color this far south are doing so now.  And we all are well into enjoying the excitement that is football fever.  Of course it's easy here with the success of LSU and yes, the Saints hangover is still with us, despite that putrid effort this past weekend.

This fall really ushers in exciting Church events as we rapidly prepare now for the implementation of the new Roman Missal.  The biggest change in prayer translations in over 40 years will be with us effective November 27th.  And we are getting ready for the celebration of All Saints and All Souls and then the beauty and simplicity of Advent.

So cool/cold weather; I'm ready to meet you.  Come on down.
