Happy Anniversary Vatican Council II

Today marks the 49th anniversary of the beginning of Vatican Council II and the start of the countdown to anniversary # 50.  The Council has been both loved by the vast majority of the Church's now 1.3 billion Catholics and the scorn of those who continue to insist that only a pre-council Church is valid.  The problem has been that most have never read the documents of Vatican II, many continue to spread false reports of Vatican II and a handful remain unfaithful to the Church by denying the council.  Some, like the SSPX'ers have been steadfastly disobedient to Holy Mother Church in their now 40 plus years acts of schism.

So let's go to the documents.  The link provided here has it all:

Please take time, however much time as needed, to read over these profound teachings of Vatican Council II.

One final point: Archbishop Hannan, who just died and who I admire greatly was the last living Bishop from America who actually attended all the sessions of the Council.  At a huge gathering of Deacons annd guests about 5 years ago he profoundly proclaimed that Vatican Council II was the most important event of the Church.  His opinion I trust!
