Every first Friday at my parish, Most Holy Trinity, we have day long Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with Benediction in the evening. The prayers we use include the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In this month of October, devoted to life and devoted to the Rosary, first Friday actually fell on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The adoreres who make it a point, month after month, to be present for Benedicction asked me to consider adding a Rosary to our devotion last night. I said yes.
I have debated and prayed about this in the past. Sometimes it seems that a Rosary, particularly on Friday when we ponder the sorrowful mysteries, does not align with Benediction. The opportunity to be present, in front of the Eucharistic Jesus should be more than enough. But I have come to realize, over time, the powerful connection between praying the Rosary, even during a period of Adoration and Benediction. The Rosary is a Christ-centered prayer. The mysteries, especially the sorrowful, allow us to reflect from Scripture, on very important events in the story of salvation.
Never be concerned about praying the Rosary. And if your parish offers Adoration with Benediction, avail yourself of the opportunity to be present with the Real Presence.
