Wendy and I are celebrating our 34th anniversary today. That's a number that seems to defy our active lifestyle and charming good looks! Well, maybe for Wendy! I have written in the past of how we both feel very blessed to have lived and loved a full life as husband and wife. And having been together through high school it's almost impossible to remember life without each other.
Our 34th is a very fulfilling one, just as last years was because of our children. Just days before we celebrated our 33rd, we were in North Carolina for the wedding of our son Jimmy to his bride Sara. And now on this, our 34th, we are just a few weeks removed from the college graduation from LSU of our youngest, Elizabeth.
As a happily married couple growing old together, these accomplishments of our children are very rewarding events and will be cherished memories.
Since we last celebrated an anniversary Wendy and I have managed to stay very active, including adjusting to the transfer of my parish assignment to Most Holy Trinity, and have stayed mostly healthy and happy. For all our many blessings we both say Thanks Be to God!
So tonight we'll spend some quality time together, enjoy a great meal and great company and begin year 35 in our marriage. As I often tell my couples when I preside at their weddings; don't do this without Jesus at the center of your married life and remember God put you together to help each other reach Heaven. And that is what we will continue to do!
