Just one day after the amazing events of the Beatification of Blessed John Paul II, Pope and the Feast of Divine Mercy, the Vatican today hosted a conference on Catholic blogging. Unfortunately, I was not invited. Of course I did not even send in a request to be included. Many of the Catholic blogs I do read and some of the ones I have bookmarked were there. Without reading many of the details I'm sure the focus of the day was blogging for the purpose of evangelization and remaining faithful, as a Catholic, to the teachings of the Church.
Why do I blog? Mainly because I like doing it. I've talked about this before. Blogging for me is a lot like journaling, something we did a lot of in formation. I originally intended my blog for family and friends so I could stop, or at least slow down, on the numerous e-mail updates I was sending out. My reflections centered mainly around those early weeks and months as a newly ordained Permanent Deacon. And I still like doing that; simply sharing real experiences while engaged in ministry or my personal reflections on what's going on within the Church.
I'm glad it has expanded some. I now post my homilies, the Saint of the day(usually from Catholic.org) and other pieces of interest. And I am happy that through emails, facebook and the dashboard of this blog I do know that it is being read. Yea! I have so much to learn still; like posting pictures, truncating articles, etc. That will come with time. For now, I will blog away. And if you are reading this, thank-you!
