For every day since February 7, 2010 we have been able to say World Champion or defending World Champion New Orleans Saints. In about 3 hours or so that title will go to the either the Steelers or the Packers. While tonight is not nearly as much fun for all of us here in the deep south it is a reminder that the team we follow, the team that is part of who we are, did indeed bring us a Super Bowl championship.
On this night when the rest of the football world will crown a new world champion Saints fans everywhere should offer another real, sincere thank-you to the boys in black & gold. You gave us the thrill of a lifetime last year and an entire year to bask in the afterglow of Super Bowl 44. And now, calmed down after several weeks of no Saints football, we can even say thanks for getting us back to the playoffs and at least have a chance to defend again.
Even though we will no longer say defending World Champs New Orleans Saints we will always have that Super Bowl victory and that World Championship. The New Orleans Saints are indeed one of the NFL elite that can indeed claim a Super Bowl win. And for that we can offer another big thank-you to our New Orleans Saints!
