A little love to the LSU football Tigers

File this one under the what have you done for me lately category. Tonight the LSU Tigers, after losing their last game of the year to Arkansas, came into that Dallas Cowboys monstrosity to face one of the hottest teams in all of college football, the Texas A&M Aggies. The first play of the game immediately gave Tiger fans heartburn and before we knew it, the Tigers are on the wrong side of a 10-0 score. Would this be one of those games or could LSU show some heart.

The Tigers began to exercise some offensive dominance and all of a sudden the QB, Jordan Jefferson is looking sharp. At halftime, LSU is up 28-17 and looking good. And they score again in the 3rd quarter and it's on. Yes, I'll admit to a little concern when the Tigers missed a FG and A&M came back to score. But tonight, LSU was ready to play. A couple of late FG's and some big turnovers by a defense that improved as the game went on sealed the deal.

LSU is champion of the Cotton Bowl and a proud holder of a record that says 11-2. I never would have believed it as the season begin. LSU hhad some strange victories early in the year as Tiger fans came away from wins feeling like we lost. But they sure turned a corner with impressive wins against Florida and Alabama. The Tigers even played respectable football against Auburn. But that last game loss to Arkansas, no slouch at all, did leave a sour tatse. But tonight is redemption; LSU has nothing to be ashamed of when you examine the entire body of work on the 2010-11 season.

I'm real hard on Les Miles. My favorite nickname for him is Least Miles. Not really sure why I dont warm up to the crazy coach who others call the Mad Hatter. Since he has arrived at LSU it's been pretty impressive. His overall record is now 62-17, he has won 11 three times and 12 when LSU was crowned national champs. After tonight Les Miles is also 5-1 in Bowl games losing only to Penn State last year.

So thanks LSU Tigers for giving us a great year. I really appreciate the amazing job of the players as I still think the coaching staff makes things way to interesting.

I've been an LSU fan since the 5th grade and am proud that both of my children are proud LSU Tigers; one alum and one soon to graduate.

Geaux Tigers!!
