A Pastoral Letter on Racial Harmony by Archbishop Alfred Hughes

I wonder how many Catholics in and of the Archdiocese of New Orleans even know that Archbishop Emeritus Alfred Hughes wrote a detailed and beautiful pastoral letter about racial harmony.  He was Archbishop at the time and had planned for this to be released sometime in 2005 but than along came Katrina.  Turns out that the delay was almost prophetic as we experienced so much racial tension in the days and weeks after the killer storm.

It's quite the read; you will need time to do so.  Please do yourself a favor and find the time.

Archbishop Hughes is a very holy man, no, not perfect, and his time as Archbishop was at times very difficult; but he is a very holy man.  And for the record, he is my ordaining Archbishop, the vehicle selected by God to lay hands on me and call down the Holy Spirit upon ordination.

I hope you will read this:  https://d2y1pz2y630308.cloudfront.net/16596/documents/2019/2/Pastoral%20Letter%20of%20Racial%20Harmony%2012162006.pdf
